Caribbean Airlines was incorporated on September 27, 2006, in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, replacing BWIA West Indies Airways, which had been in operation for 66 years. The airline commenced operations on January 1, 2007, with a fleet of six Boeing 737-800 aircraft and one Airbus A340-313. Over the years, Caribbean Airlines expanded its operations by acquiring Air Jamaica in 2010, making it the largest airline in the Caribbean. The company is headquartered at Piarco International Airport in Port of Spain, Trinidad. In 2020, the airline began a rebranding exercise, introducing a new logo and livery. The first aircraft to receive the new livery, was an ATR 72-600, 9Y-TTI. There are currently ten such aircraft in the airline's fleet.
