Southern Air Inc. was an international air cargo carrier based in Florence, Kentucky. It was the pioneer in offering ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance) services with the wide-body Boeing 777F. The airline ceased operations on November 17, 2021, following its merger with Atlas Air. The airline provided a variety of services, such as long-term ACMI, on-demand commercial charters, and support for the Department of Defense's Civil Reserve Air Fleet. It also supported some of the world's largest combination carriers, government agencies, and non-government organizations. Following the merger, the Boeing 777F aircraft with registration number N777SA was incorporated into the Polar Air Cargo fleet in 2022, while retaining the livery of Southern Air.
