Garuda Indonesia is the flag carrier of Indonesia, headquartered at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport. Garuda Indonesia is a member of SkyTeam, operating scheduled flights to a number of destinations across Asia, Europe, and Australia from its hubs, focus cities, as well as other cities for Hajj. It is the only Indonesian airline that flies to the European airspace. The earliest predecessor to Garuda Indonesia was KNILM, Royal Dutch Indies Airways, founded in 1928. KNILM was dissolved in 1947, and its assets were transferred to a new KLM subsidiary, KLM Interinsulair Bedrijf, which was nationalized in December 1949.
