LAN Airlines is the former name of LATAM Airlines Chile, a major Chilean airline that was one of the founding companies of the LATAM Airlines Group. Founded in 1929 as Línea Aeropostal Santiago-Arica, it became the flag carrier of Chile before its privatization and was a member of the Oneworld alliance. In 2012, LAN merged with Brazil's TAM Airlines to form LATAM Airlines Group, and by 2018, both brands rebranded under the unified LATAM name. The first Boeing 767-200 aircraft began arriving at LANChile Airlines in 1986, and in 1992 the first 767-300 arrived in the fleet, replacing the -200 models. There were 47 aircraft of this model in the LAN Airlines fleet. The CC-CXE was converted to a cargo version in 2016 and continues to operate flights as part of LATAM Airlines.
