Desert Air is an Alaska part 135 cargo carrier airline for rural areas of Alaska. The airline is based in Anchorage out of Ted Stevens International Airport. It was founded in the 1990s, in Utah, and was initially engaged in the delivery of auto parts across the United States and Canada. Since 2001, the company has been based at Anchorage International Airport, and performs year-round charter air cargo transportation to more than 200 settlements throughout Alaska. In October 2020, the BT-67 aircraft, which is a deep modification of the legendary Douglas DC-3, entered the carrier's fleet. New Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-67R turboprop engines were installed on the aircraft, the fuselage was lengthened, the airframe was strengthened and the wingspan was increased.
