South African Airways is the flag carrier of South Africa. Founded in 1934, the airline is headquartered in Airways Park at O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The airline entered voluntary business rescue in December 2019 as a result of many years of financial losses. On May 2020, South African Airways ceased operations after 86 years of service. But In June 2021, the Minister of Public Enterprises, revealed that airline would receive a investment from the new partners, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The airline restarted operations on 23 September 2021. On 31 October 2023, airline resumed services to São Paulo in Brazil. South African Airways also resumed flights to Perth in April 2024 by Airbus A340-300.
