JAT Yugoslav Airlines was the national flag carrier and largest airline of Yugoslavia, later Serbia and Montenegro, and finally Serbia. Flight operations were based at Belgrade airport. JAT traces its roots back to 1927 when it was established as Aeroput, the first civil airline in Yugoslavia. After World War II, the airline resumed operations in 1947 and was renamed Jugoslovenski Aerotransport (JAT). The airline operated a variety of aircraft over the years, including Convair CV-340, Boeing 707, McDonnell Douglas DC-9, DC-10, and Boeing 727. In 1978, a wide-body McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 was purchased for long-haul destinations. In total, the airline operated seven aircraft of this model. The last DC-10 was retired in 2005, and it was the aircraft YU-AMB.
