Caribbean Airlines was incorporated on September 27, 2006, in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, replacing BWIA West Indies Airways, which had been in operation for 66 years. The airline commenced operations on January 1, 2007, with a fleet of six Boeing 737-800 aircraft and one Airbus A340-313. Over the years, Caribbean Airlines expanded its operations by acquiring Air Jamaica in 2010, making it the largest airline in the Caribbean, as well as the key airline of Guyana and Jamaica. The company is headquartered at Piarco International Airport in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Caribbean Airlines operates flights from 22 cities in 16 countries, mainly in the Caribbean, North and South America. The first Boeing 737-8 MAX with registration 9Y-CAL entered the fleet in November 2021.
