Transportes Aereos del Continente Americano, simply known as TACA Airlines, was an airline owned by the Synergy Group based in El Salvador. TACA Airlines was founded in 1931 and was the flag-carrier of El Salvador. TACA Airlines, was comprised of five regional carriers. The airline had two hubs: El Salvador’s Comalapa International Airport and Lima, Peru’s Jorge Chavez International Airport. In 2009, TACA Airlines merged its assets in a strategic alliance with Colombian airline Avianca, each maintained its own trademark and operations. In 2012, Avianca and TACA airlines became full members of the Star Alliance. It maintained the TACA name until the merger was officially completed on 21 May 2013.
