A Frosted Leaf from Canada
This review of Air Canada's flagship livery came together following two posters I painted at different times. Going into the work, I already knew it wouldn't be easy or simple. With every new photo, the livery kept revealing itself layer by layer, hidden contours emerging, intricate gradients coming into focus.

Working with "Frosted Leaf," I felt firsthand every quirk of this paint scheme. As a seasoned print professional used to the neat, orderly rows of a halftone raster (the dots that make up printed illustrations), my eyes widened at the sight of this cacophony of unevenly sized dots. Somehow, in some inexplicable way, they came together into a coherent image loaded with meaning — and that's even accounting for the fact that I got to paint the simpler version of this livery. Did you know the "Frosted Leaf" livery actually had more than one variant? Read all about it on our blog.
