Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras S/A or simply Azul, is a Brazilian airline based in Barueri, a suburb of São Paulo. The company's business model is to stimulate demand by providing frequent and affordable air service to underserved markets throughout Brazil. Azul inaugurated services in the Brazilian domestic market on 15 December 2008 between Campinas and the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and Porto Alegre. Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras S.A. was the fourth airline launched by JetBlue founder David Neeleman. The company was named Azul ("Blue" in Portuguese) after a naming contest in 2008. It launched operations with Embraer 190 and Embraer 195 aircraft. And in March 2020, all Embraer 190 aircraft were removed from the airline's fleet.
