Aeroflot – Soviet Airlines was the flag carrier of the Soviet Union and is one of the oldest airlines in the world, tracing its history back to 1923. During the Soviet era, Aeroflot was the only the Soviet national airline and the largest airline in the world. Its flights were mainly concentrated around the Soviet Union, but the airline also had an international network covering five continents. The network included countries such as the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Cuba, Mexico and the People's Republic of China. The Ilyushin Il-18 is a turboprop airliner that first flew in 1957 and became one of the best known and durable Soviet aircraft of its era. The Il-18 was one of the world's principal airliners for several decades.
