Australian Airlines, a full-service carrier based in Australia, operated as an all-economy, international leisure airline. It was a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas, with its main hub located at Cairns Airport and a secondary hub at Sydney Airport. The airline was founded in 2001 and began its operations in 2002, using the name of the former domestic carrier. The airline's flight network focused on promoting leisure tourism throughout Southeast Asia. Australian Airlines ceased operations under its own branding on 30 June 2006, but it continued to operate flights for Qantas under a wet lease agreement. At the time it ceased operating independently, Australian Airlines had a fleet of five Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
